PROJECT

The Photo Solstice is an annual project dedicated to contemporary photography, conceived and curated by Marco Delogu and produced by Fondazione di Sardegna within AR/S – Arte Condivisa. Born in 2018 on the Asinara island, it moves each year through some of the most extraordinary and emblematic landscapes of Sardinia — from the heart of Barbagia to Cagliari, from the island of Culuccia to the archipelago of La Maddalena. Each edition is built around two interlocking elements. A workshop led by an internationally acclaimed photographer, open to ten selected participants through an international open call — a space for production, critical dialogue and visual research rooted in the territory. A public programme of talks and conversations that brings together photographers, curators and directors of major international cultural institutions, exploring the role of photography in relation to landscape, memory and the places that host each edition. Over its eight editions, The Photo Solstice has hosted figures including Olivo Barbieri, Matthew Connors, Tim Davis, Laurie Hurwitz, Lorenzo Meloni, Don McCullin, Davide Monteleone, Pino Musi, Lina Pallotta, Guy Tillim, Paolo Ventura, Vanessa Winship and George Georgiou — building one of the most significant platforms for contemporary photography in the Mediterranean.
